So we have numerous ways of heating water on Pulsar. Lots of redundancy.
1. Generator to charge batteries has a heat exchanger to the hot water tank – not working currently
2. Turn on inverter and use AC to heat water tank – high energy cost
3. Main engine to charge the batteries has a heat exchanger – won’t do that until tomorrow bc we did it yesterday and not as efficient as the generator
4. Diesel heater also has a heat exchange – hasn’t worked since January
5. Kettle on the stove
6. Solar shower – That’s the one I rigged up today!
Graham got it for me for my birthday and this is the first use. I didn’t leave it in the sun long enough to get hot water, but at least it wasn’t frigid. Works pretty slick! 😃
