The VHF radio woke me up at 3:15am….

The VHF radio woke me up at 3:15am. Blips from the Victoria Coast Guard. So I decided to get up to see if I could glimpse the aurora borealis. Since last night you could see it from Seattle, and maybe again tonight. As I came up the companion way I heard a large splash and a breath and more splashes. But I couldn’t see anything. Just hear something splashing and moving away. Then I sat and watched the water sparkle and heard little plops. Occasionally I could see what looked like fish zoom by. So I went and got Graham up to show him the sparkly water. Can you guess what was going on? Yep, bioluminescence. Graham told me we’ll see it better if we disturb the water, so I got our boat hook and stuck it in the water and stirred. So much loveliness!! The bright green color is amazing. The boat was surrounded by it! Of course we got the kids up and then played with it for a bit. Totally worth getting up at 3am for.
