I’m on watch with Tom The Younger. We have chatted about mythology of all types, prohibition, and his love of Polish history. Have encountered fog again. It is the thing I dislike the most. Especially at 2am. But we are getting closer to Newport Or, so it is to be expected. The moon is so bright and lovely, glinting and sparkling off the water. We have seen some meteors, and can hear birds but not see them. We seem to be away from all the fishing vessels. Periodically there is a faint smell of seaweed. The more I listen to the VHF the better I can understand it. We are motor sailing at 6.7 knots, seas are calm with gentle rolling swell, wind is 8 knots. I am grateful for the ease of this first passenger, though a little sailing would have been nice. We seemed to have found the sweet spot between the crab/shrimp pots, and the fishing vessels. We just heard dolphins chattering!
