We have arrived and are anchored for the night. It is very calm out. It’s not the best idea to arrive at a new anchorage after dark. The dark distorts distances and not everything is on the charts. In fact some areas are notorious for how inaccurate the charts are. So not a great idea to arrive after dark. And yet, here we are. As the last bits of light faded from the sky we arrived in San Simeon and anchored in the dark.
The bay is well protected from northerly winds and swell. But if the winds shift it could be rough. However, the weather models predict all northerly winds for the night and next day.
It was a long day of motoring. But we saw whales, sea lions, dolphins, and pelicans. They were most active in the morning. The whales, dolphins, sea lions, and birds all feeding in the same area. It was like a David Attenborough nature documentary.
