A right of passage

It seems if you are a cruiser and you like sushi, a right of passage is catching tuna of some type and having fresh sushi.

Yesterday our buddy Yatra caught two skipjack aka bonito. Then today after we left Bahía Santa Maria they caught another. Very motivated we threw out our hand trolling lines.

Within the hour we had a skipjack! Of course we didn’t measure that one. Then we to tossed the line out again and within minutes had a second skipjack, 26 inches. Mmmm, mmmmm.

Graham killed and filleted both with everyone close at hand. Then I chilled the fish and this evening we dined on maki rolls, with wasabi, soy, spicy mayo, and pickled ginger.

A happy crew sails into toward Isla Cedros.
