Dolphins and whales and turtles, oh my!

Wed Apr 01 2020 17:59:00 GMT-0700 (Pacific Daylight Time)

We departed the rolling anchorage at Punta de Mita, exited the mouth of Bahía de Banderas and commenced our journey north destined for the Sea of Cortez. As two new members to the crew with no prior sailing experience, we were anxious to see whether or not the swell would turn our stomachs upside down. For one of us (not naming names), it did.

Some of the days highlights included seeing a plethora of marine life. The day started with whales as we exited the bay, followed by multiple sea turtles, a pod of dolphins that popped up right by the bow of the boat and ended with a heat of rays when we arrived at the San Blas anchorage.

Now sitting in Bahía de Matanchen, enjoying a brew at the end of the day, we are hopeful for the continuation of beautiful sunsets, agreeable weather, and the acquisition of our sea legs (and stomachs).

Cheers! Up next, Isla Isabela!
