According to FB memories, on this day:
1 year ago we sold the car, prepping to leave land life behind us in under two months.
2 years ago Karri was in the Swiftsure yacht race as part of an all woman crew, not knowing we would move onto the boat 2 months later right as she returned from the Vic-Maui ocean race with the same crew.
3 years ago the family was in a 5k fun run in Boise, Idaho, living far from the sea but saving and dreaming, unaware that three months later we’d move to Seattle and it would start coming together.
4 years ago we paid off Graham’s student loans, taking another step towards the dream we decided on a few months earlier to reinvent ourselves as cruisers despite having only sailed on salt water once during sailing lessons earlier that year.
8 years ago we celebrated Karri’s master’s graduation, completely unaware that we’d do anything so crazy.
Today we sit in an anchorage, thankful to have friends nearby and a safe place to be. All the work and time paid off, despite it being nothing at all like we planned.
