Sometimes a day doesn’t go how you thought…

Sometimes a day doesn’t go how you thought it would. The “want”, was to ride the steam train from Durango, CO to Silverton, CO. But it turns out that if you don’t book 2-3 months in advanced, no train ride for you. It was a big disappointment as we had built this up to be the high point of the trip.

The day went on in a strange mix of WOW, and can we do that, nope you can’t, and this is epic. Turns out the route from Durango through Silverton to Ouray is REALLY popular, even on a Wednesday. So we couldn’t stay in the area at all. Thankfully our back up plan for Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park came through and we were able to camp for the night. We finished pitching camp at 9:45pm.

We saw some beautiful scenery, drank some tasty beers, and enjoyed our jaunt through this section of Colorado.
